Crypto Politics
Crypto was on center stage of political activity this week:
Incoming Mayor of NYC will accept first 3 paychecks in Bitcoin and support NYC CityCoins similar to MiamiCoins
Infrastructure bill passed congress with major provisions for crypto
Candidate for Senate for Ohio took stand on how crypto can help her state
Crypto is now a key part of American politics.
Cities are competing to be the home of crypto companies.
Congress is legislating crypto as a major industry.
Politicians are preaching how crypto can solve societal issues like tech monopolies and data privacy and access to opportunity.
Not coincidentally, at the same time, the crypto community is becoming increasingly active and powerful in politics. For example, the CEO of FTX exchange was the second largest donor to Biden.
I would expect this trend to continue as crypto becomes a dividing issue among candidates, and as the crypto community grows in size and wealth and influence.
That’s some mainstream action!
Have a great weekend.
